We're the Only Ones Flushed Enough

The Prescott Valley police chief 's duty weapon went missing after he left it in a library bathroom stall ... Jarrell apparently didn't realize the firearm was missing until four days later... [More]
Now that's professional grade situational awareness. Try as I might, I've never been able to duplicate such a feat.

It's almost like a higher power was expressing disapproval over lies. [More]

The Go-To State

Virginia had a law on the books for 19 years limiting handgun purchases to one a month, but — despite its effectiveness in curbing the illicit gun trade and appeals from families who lost loved ones in the Virginia Tech mass shooting — it was repealed in 2012 by the Republican-controlled legislature and then-Gov. Robert F. McDonnell (R). Efforts to reinstate this sensible limit have failed, and Virginia is once again one of the largest suppliers of crime guns on the East Coast.  [More]
Oh, so they're using their new dominion to reinstate that time-tested Opposite Day "progressive" tactic of looking to the past.

Let's see what the people that won't affect -- the ones causing the problems -- have to say about that:

Jeez, guys, you don't have to laugh.

Daily News lost more than $90M over the last three years [More]
Couldn't happen to a more deserving birdcage liner.

There's really just one question left:

And Another One...

Michigan Rep. John Conyers, a Democrat and the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives, settled a wrongful dismissal complaint in 2015 with a former employee who alleged she was fired because she would not “succumb to [his] sexual advances.” [More]
Well yeah-- what's the use of him trying to control people if he can't completely control them?

Damned if You Do, Damned if You Don't

In re Hawaiian permits to own a gun, you're not only denied if you have a record of mental health issues, per this thread, you're apparently denied if you don't. [More]

UPDATE from GP:

I'd say "all's well that ends well" (see update below) except that it'll likely happen to other people at least once a week and they'll have to go through the same hassle as HPD does everything they can to make legally possessing firearms as difficult and inconvenient as possible (including "interpreting" laws in, let us say, a "questionable" manner (as numerous successful lawsuits against them attest):
"I got everything cleared. I had to get into it with a few people, let just say the officer issuing the permit seemed a bit reluctant?"

If Republicans wanted to, they could pass this by majority vote.

If they wanted to.

It's All in the Algorithm

The internet is racist! [More]

And the arbiters of what is acceptable to the collectivists will be...?

This reads like a threat to me. And a hollow one at that, considering they don't have the numbers to follow through on it.

Republicans are working on fixing that.

Gun Control Works!

And not just gun control, but federal gun control. Just ask leading gun control advocate Wayne LaPierre! [Watch]

The comments are depressing.

We're the Only Ones Dopey Enough

Pennsylvania: Couple Sues Over Police “Drug” Raid That Mistook Hibiscus for Marijuana ... The couple’s ordeal began when Nationwide Insurance sent an agent out to assess a claim; the agent took pictures of the couple’s hibiscus plants and sent them to local police as evidence of the illegal planting and growing of marijuana. [More]
Nationwide is on whose side...?

Ahhh, here's the helpful "agent": Jonathan Yeamans.

Looks like the internet is settling the score. And his LinkedIn page has gone dark.

Looks like he's probably going to have to pick a new career. And Brad is going to have to come up with some new lyrics.

D.C. ANTI-TRUMP RIOTERS HIDE BEHIND BOGUS FREE SPEECH CLAIMS [More]
But don't look for reciprocity because "hate speech is not free speech."

Concerns about juror sympathy are valid, especially considering the venue. I'd like to see if they could follow the money and get the big fish financial backers criminally on RICO/conspiracy charges and civilly for "knew or should have known" damages.

There's a Kind of Hush All over the World Tonight

Eventually, after months of harassment, Hoyt told Cater he had talked with Cuomo about the incident and said Cuomo instructed him to “make this go away.” Cater said she was later paid $50,000 in “hush money,” which demanded Cater’s silence. Cater signed a confidentiality agreement in Oct. 2016, but she continued to try and contact Cuomo, the Post reported. Cater said she was later contacted by an attorney from the governor’s office who offered her a bribe to stay quiet. [More]
So listen very carefully, closer now and you will see what I mean...

I got my M1 Garand back when the program was still run by the Army. I like the rifle, but if I had it to do over would not go through the authorization routine again.

Methodist to His Madness

A man accidentally shot himself and his wife at an East Tennessee church on Thursday while he was showing off his gun during a discussion on recent church shootings, police said. Elder members of First United Methodist Church ... [More]
That's hardly consistent with church doctrine.

They support cultural terraforming, too.

Not that I'm just picking on them.  It's a rare church with a hierarchy that does not bow to the deceiver.

They get away with it because parishioners allow it.

Better BS, Better Inconsistency

I can no longer find the original Papa Johns tweet I was replying to (maybe they didn't like the way most comments were going), but it had to do with the company saying it supported NFL player protests.
