Not So Young Turk -- But the Ambition is the Same

“Do you represent the NRA?” asked Representative Gerald Connelly, a Virginia Democrat, his voice rising. “Or do you represent the American people at the ATF? Turk began to answer, but Connelly cut him off. “I represent victims from Virginia Tech,” Connelly said, referencing a 2007 mass shooting at the university. “We buried 6 young people. And I couldn’t explain to them why an ATF … representative might think that legalizing silencers might be a good idea.” [More]
And suppressors had exactly what to do with that, moron?

Aside from the fact that Connelly is a phonily self-righteous career stool sample whose idiotic subversion of 2A all but guarantees future Virginia Techs, I find two other points of interest here:
  • Turk showed up this time.
  • I can't quite figure if he's teaming up with AD Brandon to wag tails and lick the new master's hand, or if he's playing this solo, and if offering concessions is calculated to either propel him from Number Two to Number One -- or to keep him from being caught up in a purge.
UPDATE: Oops.

"Do you work for the NRA?" This just pushes my buttons..

The statement continues their narrative that it isn't the citizens of the USA that are standing up for their 2A rights but rather so called "big bad lobbyists" and if they could just make the NRA go away, then they could have all the "laws and regulations" they want.

talk about grandstanding...

My reply is always that the NRA works for me.

Connolly was the idiot chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors when we go log-rolled and were stuck a bill in the high hundreds of millions range for the "Silver Line" extension of Metro Rail to Dulles Airport. Supposedly Fairfax County Supervisors were kept in the dark on the project until it was too late to oppose it. Translation: the supervisors did not do any due diligence WRT keeping tabs on plans Richmond may have had for them. See here for some cost details:

Idiots and scoundrels all.
