Comparison Goes Up in Smoke

Some gun-control activists call the pro-gun efforts irresponsible. "Restaurants routinely protect their patrons from second-hand smoke, so it makes sense they would go out of their way to protect them from bullets as well," said Shannon Watts... [More]
Why, what a perfect analogy, Shannon! You've even brought me around.

I absolutely support the right of any restaurant to discourage the firing of all guns on premises except in self-defense.

I mean, they just ask the cigarettes not be lit, right?  They don't say anything about having a pack in your pocket or purse, do they?

Trail shows ‘Nevadans for Background Checks’ a front group for ‘Everytown’

In any case, it’s clear that Nevadans for Background Checks is not the locally-inspired grassroots effort its name would imply, which is hardly a surprise to gun advocates who continually point out the “AstroTurf” modus operandi employed by billionaire "Nevadan" Michael Bloomberg and his $50 million citizen disarmament machine. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes if, by "grassroots," you mean a masked corporation registered by a connected DC law firm and serving the private interests of a NYC billionaire, then, yeah, this is a genuine populist movement.

We're the Only Ones Circumstantial Enough

“This was an unfortunate circumstance in which an officer was doing exactly what we in the public require of them, and an animal who was doing what instinct believes appropriate,” Burbank said at a Friday morning news conference. “We are, as the police department, very sorry for the circumstance.” [More]
Gosh, how understanding.  I can't help but note the heartfelt sincerity in that official statement.  I wonder how many lawyers they vetted it with before coming up with a final.

It's also nice of them to be so in tune with what the public requires.

I guess if they mean in the home, by loving parents who establish standards and set proper examples, that's right.

Judicial Watch says court ordered DOJ to release Fast & Furious docs index
My reaction: Big deal. An index. And what's to stop a stay like we just saw in Palmer, then an appeal, and then more stonewalling?

Gun prohibitionists can’t have it both ways
Not that they'll ever let a little thing like that stop them from demanding whatever advances their purposes at the time.

UPDATE: Make that "three."

Bordering on Insanity

GOA and a handful of screaming-in-the-wilderness supporters believe illegal immigration is related closely enough to the "single issue" to warrant being considered a factor in assessing just how supportive of 2A a politician really is. Most gun owners are either unaware of the tie-in, or try to justify ignoring it.

That gives politicians who should be in the hot seat a pass, and that is a major factor in the situation Herschel decries... [More]
