GRE Round Up for February 18

Here are the latest offerings from my fellow GREs:

Liston Matthews/Knoxville:

Dave Workman/Seattle:
Kurt Hofmann/St. Louis:
---
Also check out these other Liberty-oriented Examiners:

We're the Only Ones Justice Delayed Enough

FBI Agent Blamed for Teen Drunk Driving Death Not Likely to Face Charges for Months [More]

Looked like a real good kid, too--just graduated high school, working two jobs...

Nice to know Agent "One More for the Road" Johnson was considered responsible and trustworthy enough for nationwide concealed carry--and you're not.

We're the Only Ones in Public/Private Partnership Enough

The commander of a Contra Costa County drug task force and the head of a high-profile, Concord-based private investigative firm were arrested Wednesday on allegations they conspired to sell drugs, authorities said. [More]
Hey, there were only two of them, lending credence to the 'few bad apples" theory, right...?

Ah, here we go:
"It's not reflective of our agency or our agents..."
Because none of them have been arrested before, you see...even though this has apparently been going on with one of their top guys for years.

"Extraordinary"

Hardy on Grassley's latest letter...[Read]

A Poor Performance

Memo to ATF: Grassley Not Impressed With Your Dog And Pony Show [More]
It's pretty obvious the handlers are to blame...

Perhaps

Perhaps that’s why they all sat on their hands for Restore The Constitution last year.

Perhaps that’s why they’re all sitting on their hands for Project Gunwalker now. [More]

Perhaps.

When We Want the Servants to Speak, We'll Tell Them To

The state's top law enforcement officer said he doesn't oppose a looser requirement for carrying guns, but the state's Sheriffs' Association disagreed. [More]
Time to figure out which sheriffs back that position and modify their career plans...It's hard  for me to imagine anything more "meaningless" than executive director Jeff Moore having any say whatsoever in any of this.

Liberty News/Safer Streets

John Longenecker asks us to pick a number between one and seven... [Read]

How does he do that...?

A Public Challenge

Gun Owners of South Africa (GOSA) publicly challenge the Minister to request that the Auditor-General, Mr. Terrence Nombembe, conduct a forensic audit of the implementation of the Firearms Control Act of 2000 since it was signed into law 11 years ago. [More]
I suspect the government already knows what the results will show...

Crazy About You

N.Y. warns laggards: 'The quality of our background check is going to be compromised' [More]
Seeing how that has absolutely no effect on limiting access to those who would criminally misuse guns, and seeing how insanity has been defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, why, that's just crazy talk.

Hey, I know how we can make a difference! Let's put a ton of resources into sending a truck with a billboard around the country! That'll show those inclined to homicide what-fer!

And...

Naming Names

As expected, if a bit later than expected, the Oregon legislature (well some Oregon legislators who don't want their names used) have introduced or drafted new anti-rights bills. [More]
I guess if I were abusing authority to undermine human liberty and dignity, I'd want to kind of do it on the sly too...

At least initially.

Playing the Percentages

No specific numbers on how many of those guns "recovered in Mexico and traced back to the United States" were, in fact, military purchases, but the State Department cables indicate a portion of the fewer than 12 percent of the traceable weapons actually came from the United States in gun shop/individual type purchases. Remember, that's not 12 percent of the tens of thousands of weapons recovered - it's only 12 percent of the weapons recovered that were traceable. It's nowhere near the 12 percent figure that has been misquoted and used as evidence of the United State's "horrific" problem of illegal gun sales. [More]
Who is using a paltry "12" to misrepresent things?

Try "80."

Or "90."

Hell, try "95 to 100."

When the antis lie, they lie big.  It's what they do.

What have they got to lose?

They figure most people won't know any better, and the media they're BSing will either be too ignorant to know the difference or else glad to have something that helps advance their own agenda.

Deportation raises questions for Grassley gun investigation

That is curious.  Especially in the absence of information about who decided the Mexican nationals are not accessories (or even material witnesses), and how that was determined. After all, whether they were complicit to the shooting or not, they were illegally present at the scene of a crime in which a law enforcement officer was killed.

No?  [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report wonders if everybody who needs to has had a chance to ask questions.  Ain't it something that we have to question that?

This Day in History: February 18

One of the most noted events in Pluckemin (Washington spelled it Pluckamin) was The Grand Alliance Ball of 1779 in Pluckemin.(Sometimes spelled Pluckamin) General Washington and 400 others attended the celebration held on the grounds of the Boylan House in 1779. The ball celebrated the first anniversary of the alliance with France, which ended in victory for the allies at Yorktown. The ball was attended by more than 400 dignitaries. [More]
