String Theory

Not to be outdone by the foolishness of their upstart neighbor to the south, Cleveland is holding a gun "buyback."

Today's Gun Rights Examiner column has a few observations about that.

We're the Only Ones Plenty to Go Around Enough

Mayor Daley said Tuesday he is honored and “excited” that Barack Obama has chosen Chicago as his transition headquarters and denied that providing security for the president-elect is straining already depleted police resources.
Only for The One...?

Communist Goals and Christians

One of the most distressing things about modern America is the total lack of understanding about how an individual’s thinking (and hence behavior) affect society and contribute to the destruction of the United States. Today, it is not just communists that think like communists, but fundamental and evangelical Christians as well. Why? Because they have accepted communist ideas, without understanding those ideas and movements in society were and are utilized by communists to achieve certain goals.

Paul W. Davis charts "progress."

A Penny Saved...

...can ultimately end up with armed goons forcing you out of your home if you don't pay up.

Just so you recognize and accept your ultimate place in the grand scheme of things.

What's most disturbing about this is not the bovine stupidity of the bureaucrat (who prudently does not list an edress on the city website)--but some of the comments from the statist Massholes should leave no doubt why the voters keeps returning Ted Kennedy to power.

For some reason a title just came to me: The Penny Rebellion. Don't tell Mike Vanderboegh or he's liable to crank out Chapter One: "The Battle of Glenn Street," and we need him staying focused on Absolved...:)

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Coronation

President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration has officials in the nation’s capital bracing for an unprecedented turnout of possibly 3 million people or more, District of Columbia Mayor Adrian M. Fenty said Tuesday.
What could possibly go wrong with all that hope and change concentrated in one place?

Resolved?

We're the Only Ones Watching Children Grow* Enough

A former police officer, wanted on 20 counts of "encouraging child sexual abuse," has turned himself in. Investigators say the charges stem from images of child pornography found on computers he owned.
Hey, you know how some "Only Ones" like to kid around...

* And yet again...gosh, am I sorry.

We're the Only Ones Working Hard* Enough

As the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office investigates allegations that three jail deputies separately used a work computer to view online pornography, Sheriff Bob Skipper has decided to disconnect the Internet in most parts of the county jails.
Hey, at least these "Only Ones" weren't using the computers to access databases...

*And I do apologize.

Readying for Battle

Sheriff, supervisors ready for battle over gun permits...
If you don't do what we say, why...why, we're going to disagree with you!

So there!

Yeah, this'll get our rights recognized.

Liberty in our epoch!

What Some Say

Arm Students With Guns? Some Say Yes
And others say no.
"I don't know. That kind of scares me," Texas State freshman Rachel Yon said. "I wouldn't go for that."

..."I believe it would be a bad idea," Texas State senior Adam Cervantez said.
Well, then, with qualified opinions like these, it's settled.

At least it will be if they prevail politically, and those who disagree obey.

Funny thing about campus shooters--none of them apply for permission to carry and abide by the decision, do they? They don't really care about what some say.

We're the Only Ones Keeping Abreast of the Situation Enough

Cop arrests teen, orders her to flash breasts
'It was just a stupid mistake by a young kid'
What, we're the Only Ones seeing double enough?

That's just great--give young stupid kids armed authority over their fellow human beings. What could go wrong?

This is the Guy

Pending passage through the vetting process, our next Attorney General will be Eric Holder.

Armed and Safe tells us of a nominee who wants to impose the centerpiece of the McCain small arms control agenda on us, closing the dreaded "gun show loophole," that is, ending all private off-the-books sales.

It gets worse.

For instance, he's also a big fan of waiting periods, and pre-crime, and the Brady Act, and one-gun-a-month, increasing the disarmament enforcement bureaucracy, mandating lock-up-your-safety, and disarming the age demographic that put his prospective boss over the top.

Holder statement-May 1999
When the AMA analyzed the success of Virginia's one-gun-a-month law, it found that the number of guns connected to crime traveling Northeast from Virginia fell 20%.

Holder statement-June 1999
Even worse -- for the events that it does cover, the bill weakens the current law by cutting down the amount of time law enforcement has to complete pre-sale background checks, from 3 working days to 72 hours.

Holder briefing-October 1999
[W]e need Congress to pass the common- sense gun safety legislation that is in the Senate and that has been passed in the Senate by a bipartisan vote. We need to extend the Brady law protection to gun shows and flea markets and deny guns to those who committed violent offenses as juveniles, require child- safety locks on handguns and give law enforcement the tools that it needs to further reduce gun crime. We also need to have the COPS Program fully funded.

Statement as Deputy AG
Of course, our strategy does not rely merely on punishing offenders after crimes have been committed. We are also working to implement measures to prevent gun crimes before they occur.

Gun control debate
ERIC HOLDER: A mandatory 72-hour waiting period for all happen-gun purchases will help stop heat-of-the moment killings and a proposed increase in the minimum age for handgun possession from 18 to 21 will get hand guns out of the hands of the most crime-prone age group.
This is the guy.
